a fanlisting

A fanlisting is a group of people who like something: i.e. a group of people who like wolves. All a fanlisting is is a list of fans to do with that particular person, item, or object; it joins together people with similar interests.

dragon age

Dragon Age is a series of games made and produced by Bioware - you might know them for Mass Effect - and is distributed by EA. Dragon Age is a western RPG that gives the player the opportunity to mould their experience by branching dialogue to give their character a means to react to events in different ways, a character creator to customise your Warden/Hawke/Inquisitor, and for previous decisions to have an effect on current ones.

The game takes place in the fictional continent of Thedas, and follows three individual protagonists. The first is the Warden from Dragon Age: Origins; their mission is to stop the Blight from spreading throughout the Kingdom of Ferelden. The second is Hawke, the Champion of Kirkwall, in Dragon Age II, shortly after they flee Ferelden as the Blight hits, and covers a ten year span. The pieces are then picked up by the Inquisitor in Dragon Age: Inquisition, where a darkspawn magister is bent on destroying the world, and he must be stopped by any means. Enter the Inquisition. Nobody expected that.

I played through my first Dragon Age run about the time Inqusition was availible to me. There is a marked difference in graphics from the first to the third, but the characters are engaging, the story is interesting, and I've had a steady descent into this world which spans a lot of heroes.

cassandra pentaghast

Cassandra Allegra Portia Calogera Filomena (get on with it!) Pentaghast first appears at the beginning of Dragon Age II, where she and Leliana are pursuing Hawke under the instruction of the Divine. Dragon Age II might be (unreliably) narrated by Varric, but Cassandra is his audience, and so begins a long love affair with Varric's books for the seeker, because he gets her hook, line, and sinker. (He straight up lies and she believes every word and has a hero crush on Hawke, it's kind of adorable.)

Outside of pestering local dwarves, Cassandra is the Hero of Orlais and a Seeker of Truth. Notably, she is the Right Hand of Divine Justinia V (and her predecessor) - Cassandra employs brute force to get what she wants. Or, blunt, straightforward negotiating which may or may not be threats; Leliana's job is the more subtle.

She is also an estranged, many times removed member of the royal family of Nevarra, though Cass acts hardly anything like a noble, let alone a princess. She has no interest in being anything but what she is, and has little love for her homeland (joke's on you, Cass, I bought the domain).

In Inquisition, Cassandra is a party member and an Inquisition founder, though she's not officially an advisor. Instead, she accompanies the Inquisitor on their jaunts, for better or worse - but she's very likeable, and surprisingly forgiving as long as the Inquisitor tries. It's very, very difficult to make an enemy of Cass.

I fell in love with Cassandra (and her voice) back in Dragon Age II, which was the first game in the series that I watched my best friend play, and still my overall favourite. It was inevitable she would become the last of the "I acccidentally fell in love with this lady and had to romance her" line, in which she gained a young, strapping, innocent Trevelyan whom was just as head-over-heels in love with her as I was. It's a run I've not finished, but I love any and all her interactions; out of all the runs I've actually played, Cass eeks her way into my party make-up, because nothing can put her down.

I mean, seriously, everyone else can be half dead on the ground and Cassandra has full health and full guard and she laughs in the face of that dragon. She's the only warrior with a sensible AI who thinks about her wellbeing and protects her party, because Blackwall is geared more towards Bull's style and Bull just? Dies? (I love him but he needs to work on self preservation.) Cassandra is someone who I'd recommend whichever mode you're playing, but especially on Nightmare.

tl;dr she's the seeker of truth and my heart, you know how it goes.
